Essay on traditions

Through our various cultures, we can define ourselves and our identities, conform to society’s shared values and contribute to society. Traditions are an integral part of our culture as well, and are rituals or customs that have been passed down many generations.

In this regard, I can refer to the experience of my family and my personal experience. My family has its own traditions which we observe and which are extremely important for us. For instance, if a family member is in trouble, we always help each other. The entire family unites its efforts to help the family member in trouble.

The family history and traditions and family values help people to feel being members of the small community – their family. However, this community is probably the most important in their life. The maintenance of our family traditions and values is very important for family members because it helps our family to survive in hardest times.

The word tradition, however means, unwritten beliefs and customs handed down from generation to generation, which we all knowingly or unknowingly adhere to in our daily lives. It is the emotional fabric, which binds us to our forefathers and makes us distinct from one another.
